01 — Piezo sensors

Proven, durable
vehicle counting

Piezoelectric sensors sit within the road surface and generate a signal as each axle passes over them, giving reliable counts, classification and speed data at a fraction of the disruption of a full excavation. We supply and install RoadTrax BL (Brass Linguini) sensors from TE Connectivity — a proven, widely deployed piezo sensor built for exactly this job.

02 — Inductive loops

The proven standard
for vehicle detection

A wire loop cut into the carriageway detects the change in magnetic field as a vehicle passes over it. It's the most widely deployed detection technology on UK roads, and remains the standard choice for reliable vehicle presence detection and counting.

We handle both new-site loop installations and the diagnosis and replacement of faulty or failed loops on existing sites — tracing feeder faults, cutting and re-laying damaged loops, and testing before handover so the site is left fully operational.

  • Installed to MCH 1540 — the National Highways specification for detector loops on motorways and trunk roads

  • Two-part backfill (polyurethane resin and hot oxidised bitumen) for a durable, weatherproof seal

Quartz WIM sensors deliver the accuracy needed for genuine weigh-in-motion applications — axle loads & gross vehicle weight for roadway monitoring — at full traffic speed, with no need to stop or slow vehicles.
